Hi everyone,
A few neighborhood volunteer opportunities have come up. Please see below. Thanks, Allan
- Our Sunday, May 19, ice cream social is coming up fast. We are asking for volunteers to help set up between 1 and 2, monitor the moon bounce between 2 and 4, serve ice cream between 2 and 4, and help clean up. Please contact board member Amy Royden-Bloom if you are interested in helping out. (amyroyden@hotmail.com)
- We’re looking ahead to the traditional children’s July 4 parade that begins at the top of Madison Street. Are there neighbors who want to help organizing the event, working with board member Keary Cope (kearycope@gmail.com)? Our friends in Bradmoor have expressed interest in a joint party at the Bradley Hills park at the end of the parade. (They are looking for their own volunteers, too.)
- Would anyone wish to join our neighbor Carol Ann Rudolph (ccmrfcr@aol.com) in a committee to study the continuing issue of construction noise and to pursue ways to address it? This is decidedly not an anti-construction campaign. Construction is a long-term fact of life here (see the Sunday Washington Post article link below). The idea is to identify community-level approaches to the issue to get ahead of the unpleasant confrontations that occur from time to time between neighbors and builders. Construction and its attendant disruptions will only grow as an issue when Suburban Hospital begins its five-year expansion project.
